From Class 5:
We worked on the Toolbox again and practiced on a couple of photos, then practiced a couple of examples from the book.

We started with this photo of a historic cathedral.

Then we used this photo of a canal in Amsterdam.

Then we used this photo to demonstrate how to create a soft spotlight around a part of the photo, as seen on page 202 in the book.

Then we turned the page (page 204) and worked with the Magic Wand Tool to create a selection of an entire color. We used this photo of a sporty car. I turned mine a golden-gray color.

We then covered a new topic: adding borders to your photos. Photoshop calls borders “Strokes” and you find them on the Edit menu. I showed you pictures from Meredith on Flickr and how her borders make any picture look fantastic. I tried it out and got this result.

Lastly, we took two photos and merged them together using the Free Transform Tool (CTRL T) as seen on page 308. We used this photo of a laptop and I used this photo of my daughters in a bugswing and ended up with this photo.

Class 6:
Cutting out something and putting it into another photo.
How to Sharpen a portion of a photo.

Resizing groups of photos is very easy if you are using Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS3 on a Mac in this example. Though I am not sure if this works in Elements, I do know that it works in CS2 on both a PC & a Mac.

Here’s the concept: you have a folder full of JPG files and they are all very large. You want to resize all of the photos at once, or you want to create small copies of all of the photos at once, but save it to another location. No problem.

Just click the File menu, and hover over Scripts, then select Image Processor:
